"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

The M is a magazine that is totally random and strictly for entertainment. It contains comics,advertisments, and regular magazine junk like articles. The contents can vary depending on what the great creators (N & L) decide to put into it. To describe it alittle bit, The M is like hottopic and shonen jump squished into one with a little sprinkle of insanity and randomness.
